Centaurs now based at The Triple Crown, Richmond...

Remember me - Nigel Morgan

Whilst surfing the net, as they say in the classics, I came across the Past Members Lunch List for the Centaurs Rugby Club.
Would you believe in this age of Alzheimer's, selective memory and indifference I could recall about 70% of the names listed.
I played for the Centaurs (J Lyons) under the leadership of Adler, Gaskell, Manley, Hanna, White, Farrant and the likes.
For the past 22 years I have been living in Canada either in Montreal or Toronto.
The reason for surfing the net is that I am still an avid Rugby enthusiast even though it's a real cinderella sport here.
Funnily enough I do belong to the Centaurs Ruby Club, Burlington, Ontario.
We have an old-timers team (over 40 years) called the NOBS (Niagara Old Boys)
This group plays and tours anyone that can raise a genuine old boys side. If we can't get opposition we play each other
Weather permitting we get out every week. It's possible to put out an over 40s side (colts), an over 50s and an over 60s side
We participate in tournaments all over Canada and the US during the year and undertake a major tour every 18 months.
Have met a few ex-Centaurs in my travels like Fred Whittaker and Dick (Polish surname, played fullback) Both in Toronto
Bert Wyatt who played for J LYONS even before Gaskell and Adler, still lives in Montreal. I see him regularly.
After he left the UK he made the Canadian Rugby Team and returned with them in the 60s as a tourist (Prop)
He's nearly 90 years old now but he's as sharp as knife. Probably brighter now than he was when playing prop.
I did meet Chris Beaumont many years ago on a flight to Dublin and also met with Tony Morgan at the Golden Oldies tournament
Noticed there is a registration form on the Centaurs Web Site. I'll register so that I'll know where you guys meet and perhaps get down for a pint if I can get back home sometime.
