Hello All,  

You might remember me a “Splash”, others as the “fat bastard in the centre”. Memories have be rekindled over the last few days as I am now living in Kuala Lumpur, and  a strange thing happened to me on the way to the office. I was greeted by a face I didn’t recognize “Do I know you? Did you play rugby?”. The person turned out to be Paul Winder, who is now playing for the vets in my rugby club (Royal Selangor Club, locally known as “the dogs”?

The last time this happened was back in Perth (Australia), when I was greeted by a shout “Hey Splash, fancy a beer”, turning around, looking for the mysterious voice, I spotted a Mr. Mark Prowdler smiling in the doorway of a local pub. Many happy beers were consumed and a lasting friendship started again, which involved many drunken nights, until I left in 2000.

I am now coaching the U14’s for the Royal Selangor Club, and supporting my two boys who play for the U14’s and U16’s.

It’s good to read your web page and see names I still recognize and who are still active in the club, Simon East, Huw Hopkins, Andy Cooper, Robby Clubb and Mike Saxton to name a few, but it is sad to see that you have left the old clubhouse.

The last time I played rugby was back in 1998 in Australia (Perth) when I was making a penetrating break for the try line,  went for a devastating side step,  tripped and tore the last working ligament in my right knee, it was a shame it was a game of ‘touch rugby”!! It must have been the strain from carrying this athletic body over the last 46 years.  

Anyway, I wish you all the best, and glad to hear the Centaurs Spirit is still going strong. If anyone wants to get in contact with me, please give them my details below…..
